Fighting COVID-19 with Children – New Service “ecAccess4Children” Launched

To allow children with mobility difficulties to attend medical consultations and receive treatments, the Society’s Accessible Hire Car service launched ‘ecAccess4Children” in September, a service that enables sick children to travel to the Hong Kong Children’s Hospital. In the early phase of this service, children with mobility difficulties suffering from metabolic disorders, rheumatoid arthritis, muscular atrophy, sensorimotor polyneuropathy and other rare illnesses have benefited from this project.

Thanks to the generosity of donors, this service has been extended to the first quarter of 2021. This will allow us to serve children suffering from other illnesses that have led to disabilities or mobility difficulties. Each ride can take a child in wheelchair and up to five companions. The priority is set for those living in remote areas without adequate support of accessible transport service. To minimise the risk of spreading COVID-19, anti-virus nano photocatalyst coating has been applied to each vehicle, which will also be disinfected before and after use.
