Overcome challenges from stroke by courage

“I was staying at home alone that day as my sister accompanied my mother for a medical appointment. Unexpectedly, the stroke happened.”

The scene is still vivid in his mind when Siu-ching tried to recall the day he suffered a stroke in May 2018. “I was not anxious at that moment, yet, I wished to start rehabilitation treatment as soon as possible so I can take over my destiny again.” After the four-month hospitalisation, Siu-ching started receiving rehabilitation training in Lee Quo Wei Day Rehabilitation and Care Centre. At that time, he could not move on his own and was dependant on a walking stick.

In the past half year, Siu-ching steps up efforts in doing exercise and uses “Hand of Hope” to facilitate his motor control and coordination. “I can now stretch my hands and legs easily. I can also control my hands and pick up things. I no longer need to rely on a walking stick too.” His significant improvement illustrates the success of trainings.

Siu-ching expressed his gratitude to the staff who always take good care of his needs and helps him overcome the challenges brought by stroke. He added, with a broad grin, that he hopes to rebuild his strength and return to his job down the road.
