The Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation

Barrier Busters — Barrier-free City Explorer

Barrier Busters is an annual signature event of the Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation (HKSR). The aims are to promote community education on barrier-free and inclusion, and raise funds to support HKSR’s various rehabilitation services taking care of persons with disabilities, chronic illnesses and the elderly.

The event this year will be comprised of 2 parts – Barrier-free City Explorer City-orienteering Challenge and Barrier Busters Carnival:

  • Barrier-free City Explorer City-orienteering Challenge, themed “Culture, Sports and Tourism for ALL”, aims to allow participants to understand and experience the challenges faced by persons with disabilities and chronic illnesses. It also seeks to inspire participants to use knowledge and skills to alleviate those difficulties they encounter in life, and create equal access to both persons with and without disabilities in cultural, sports, and tourism activities.
  • Barrier Busters Carnival features game booths and exhibition promoting inclusion between persons with and without disabilities, as well as charity sales to raise funds for HKSR, encourages the public to support persons with disabilities and chronic illnesses in reintegrating into society and living a dignified and fulfilling life.

Proceeds raised will be used towards HKSR’s rehabilitation and social welfare services supporting persons with disabilities, chronic illnesses, and elderly in need. Let us join together to break down physical, psychological and social barriers!
