Sir Harry Fang (1923-2009) was a founding member of the Society as well as a renowned orthopaedic surgeon. He was widely known as the “Father of Rehabilitation” in Asia. Before his death, he led the Society’s campaign for the welfare of people with disability, fostering equal opportunities and changing the public’s opinion about them. Dr Fang also raised funds for constructing specialist hospitals and promoted the development of rehabilitation locally and internationally, and in mainland China. His contribution was enormous and far-reaching, making him a role model in the field of rehabilitation and a lead extraordinaire. He lit up the lives of many during his life.
