In 2022, as the mentor introduced the Individual Coaching Service, Ann immediately raised her hand to sign up. She knew she needed to continue her deepening journey, receive targeted assistance, and confront her psychological issues head-on. Just like everyone else, Ann had a thorn in her heart that needed guidance to be addressed.

“Before attending the coaching sessions, I never thought about my physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Life was simply occupied with taking care of others and work. As my son grew up, my daughter-in-law and I began to have many conflicts. I wanted my grandson to enjoy his studies, but he was enrolled in numerous tutoring and extracurricular classes. My daughter-in-law and I always disagreed on parenting approaches, and our relationship became strained for six months. During that time, I didn’t see my grandson or my son’s family. I am most grateful to Miss Siu. Every time during our sessions, I couldn’t help but cry. Miss Siu was always there to laugh with me, cry with me, and accompanied me on this journey of  starting anew. Through her profound words, I came to understand that if I wanted to change my family, I needed to start with myself. I couldn’t bear being away from my son and grandson, so I knew I had to change. I couldn’t let my brain’s autopilot thinking mechanism control  me and believe that my way was the only correct one. Now, my relationship with my family is gradually improving. Every Saturday, I spend a day with my grandson, simply strolling in the park and sharing a meal. I am already content.”

The most difficult times will pass, just as fallen leaves drifting away in the flowing water. Negative thoughts will pass, unhappiness will pass, and even happiness will pass. This is what Ann has learned, and it serves as her encouragement to her dearest son. Though difficulties may not be immediately resolved, Ann insists on strengthening herself and never giving up. If one way of interacting doesn’t work, she will find another way, navigating through the twists and turns. Ann has confidence that as long as the final outcome is maintaining a happy relationship between everyone involved, it will be well worth it.
