Find a way out

In January 2020, a lot of people were badly influenced by the COVID-19 and many shops, restaurants and companies were closed or suspended.

My daughter, Ting Ting, suffered from a stroke five years ago and spent four years in recovery.  Last year, she attempted to get back to work with the HKSR VRRC’s all-rounded support and assistance.  Yet, Ting Ting found it much harder to get a suitable job under the pandemic.

Surprisingly, I noticed from HKSR in February that a multinational investment corporation was recruiting mask packers.  I was overjoyed that Ting Ting got her first ever paid job.  Meanwhile, however, I worried about her travelling.  Finally, I felt blessed to be accepted to work with her.

Without working for five years, Ting Ting underperformed and worked slowly in an unfamiliar environment at the very beginning.  Fortunately, she had the patient guidance from the staff as well as the teammates’ kind assistance.  They all contributed a lot in Ting Ting’s progression and brought her confidence.  I was so glad to see her go to work alone eventually.

Having a job was uneasy during this difficult period.  I was so thankful to every one of you for giving Ting Ting and other service users working opportunities.  It helped them regain their self confidence and value.
