About Us

After Wenchuan Earthquake in 2008, The Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation (HKSR) proactively responded to the post-earthquake rehabilitation needs. The Community-based Rehabilitation Resource Centre for Earthquake Zones in Sichuan was funded by the “Trust Fund in Support of Reconstruction in the Sichuan Earthquake Stricken Areas” from the HKSAR Government to be set up with West China Hospital of Sichuan University. A number of Community-based Rehabilitation Network points were set up at the disaster zones to promote Community-based Rehabilitation. Now, we keep on our work in Sichuan to promote the modern rehabilitation service model and extended our services to people with disabilities and chronic conditions in the local areas.

To cope with the development of community-based rehabilitation services in the local areas, a local NGO – Yang Kang Rehabilitation Resource Centre (Yang Kang) was set up in May 2013 with the support of HKSR. Sichuan Disabled People’s Federation is the official managerial unit. Yang Knag is designated as the project implementation organization of HKSR. The services provided by Yang Knag include:

    • Training and supervision on Community-based Rehabilitation services and skills
    • Consultation service on rehabilitation skills
    • Training for rehabilitation personnel
    • Training for people with disabilities and chronic conditions
