ERB Course

1. 1.) What are the basic admission requirements for Employee Retraining Board (ERB) courses?

The basic entry qualifications are:

  1. chronically ill or persons with disabilities;
  2. aged 15 years or above;
  3. Associate degree or below

(the admission requirements might vary according to individual courses)

2. How is chronically ill or disabled defined?

Chronically ill patients: patients holding an appointment slip issued by the public hospital

Disabled persons: patients holding a Registration Card for People with Disabilities

3.) Am I ineligible for admission if I am holding an appointment slip issued by the private hospital?

No, you are still eligible but you have to provide a medical statement from your doctor stating that you have chronic illnesses or are disabled.

4. If I want to register for a course, what do I need to do?

If you want to sign up for our courses, you may:

  • contact our enquiry hotline; or
  • fill out the online registration form.

5. Do I need to pay any tuition fee for the course?

All ERB courses are free of charge. In addition, all placement-tied courses are provided with subsidies (attendance rate must reach at least 80%).

6. What are placement-tied and non-placement-tied courses? What are the differences between them?

  • Placement-tied courses are full-time vocational training courses designed for the unemployed, which straddles different industry categories. Upon completion of the course, a 6-month post-placement follow-up services will be provided to help students re-enter the job market. Such type of course also covers training in personal attributes and job hunting skills which aims at enhancing the employment opportunities of the trainees.
  • Non-placement-tied courses are only offered in part-time mode.
