The Hong Kong Society for Rehabilitation (HKSR) was established in 1959 as a non-profit making organization by Professor Sir Harry Fang Sin-yang and his counterparts.
Well-established around 50 years, there are currently 21 service units under HKSR, providing rehabilitative support in different districts all over Hong Kong. The Society's work is highly recognized by the World Health Organization, and in the local medical and social service fields.
Through the strenuous support of government and private organizations including the Transport Department, the Social Welfare Department, the Community Chest and the Hong Kong Jockey Club, HKSR's services have been extended from people with a disability to patients with chronic illness and to the elderly, as well as the general public.
There are five categories in the society's scope of services: accessible transport and travel, education and advocacy, wellness and community rehabilitation, vocational rehabilitation and long-term care.
HKSR is committed to providing comprehensive rehabilitative support to people with a disability, chronic illness, the elderly and their family. The aim is to help them re-construct their lives in the spirit of the phoenix, which is the emblem of the Society.
